Walking with Chickens

One summer day, last September, I let Hannah and Penny out. They walked about under the supervision of any red-tailed hawk. It was my first fire in awhile and my son and I roasted actual hot dogs.

In the beauty of a late summer sunset, the chickens followed me up the small hill from down below where my sunflowers and tomatoes and zucchini grew this year.

This painting started out with a sketch of the walking with chickens. From here it progressed as it usually does, color washes until nature spirits inform me of another story.

Letting the painting speak –

I am baby rhino with my new horn, I protect spaces with confidence, assurance and steadiness. He passed the baton on to the pink dolphin representing peace and harmony, who then passed baton up and slightly over to the llama of endurance, community,  gentle strength, wisdom, inner peace, and tranquility.  Coming over and down is the purple gecko symbolizing protection of home and family.

Near rounding out the end is the bat which symbolizes rebirth, no matter how dark things seem there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and can see through illusions and into the heart of the matter.

The moose has returned from a recent painting as strength and the bear with a turtle ear resounds comfort, care, persistence and determination and to remain strong despite any obstacles or vexatious individuals.

The Garden of Plenty

(used to be the Garden of Stolen Money until I redid the painting)

This painting started out on a luan birch plywood panel. It was in my solo show at PEG gallery in Newburyport, MA in July 2020.

The central mountain was the face of George Washington. I noticed. And I let the face stay. It was over a year afterwards that I leaned into what it could mean. It was my painting showing me that someone I used to trust was robbing me in plain site.

After I realized this, I went about painting over the original painting that was in the show and then bringing it into Corel Painter and reworked digitally.

Now, digital painting is good sometimes. In the case of this piece, it helped alot. More nature spirit images came in ie. a giraffe, a wild cat, a cardinal, a wombat, all super nice symbology and supportive of a gracious and prosperous life here on the farm.

Moral of the Story: Just because you love someone doesn`t mean they wont try and hurt you. oopsie.

I paint because I care

Painting, mostly watercolor over the last five years, is how I spread love. Painting is my giveaway, my passion, my storytelling. I work with Nature in the form of Spirit and symbol to help reflect what is going on internally as well as externally. When I can see things or make them conscious then I can heal through witnessing and feeling and asking how I can respond and renew myself. Any healing I can do I feel does affect my human tribe as a step up as well as offering my story in a way that may bring awareness or support to another’s story.

Medicine circle shirt

Starting on the right side of the circle is a bat, in the East. The East symbolizes new beginnings and the bat symbolizes rebirth, no matter how dark things seem there is a light at the end of the tunnel, can see through illusions and into the heart of the matter.

South is the turtle symbolizing steadfastness, tranquility.

The West, the King Salmon symbolizes also symbolizes perseverance like the bat in addition to abundance, prosperity and renewal.

The North, the Caribou endurance, regeneration, vision, majesty.

These animal symbols were pulled from a deck of over 100 cards I made in 2019.

Sacred Hoop

The Sacred Hoop of Life through Art

I had written the words on the wall twelve years ago “the Sacred Hope of Soulfulness.”   After looking at it daily it is now starting to make sense to me what it means.  It is a circle no matter how big or small that surrounds me.  I create it through my own energy.  When I sit quietly I can play with the inner skin of the circle feeling a back flow, a bounce back of energy.  I sometimes think of it as a circle of love.  A constant flow out and flow in, a connected energy phenomenon.

In what I call “the Sacred Hoop” of everything, bringing oneself to bear in the world implies an activity, a dance or participation with the flow of energy we can simply call “Life.”  When we move our energy outward we can intend to feel it come back multiplied.  This can be done by loving something; yourself, a tree, the moment – and as that Love expressed moves out it somehow seems multiplied when allowing it to radiate back from a Hoop, a circle that surrounds.

Sacred Hoop Painting – how to increase back flow of the Love that goes out

However one starts to express, there is an opportunity to engage with the world.  This engagement can occur simply by sitting and breathing expanding out around oneself and then taking the moment and using the senses to feel a back flow, or energy coming back towards the self in response to the outflow.

This is happening with my painting.  It happens as I paint and it continues to occur once the painting is finished.  It can occur with a viewer and any painting I believe.  This is how I explain on how to view a painting, in a hoop –like, energy exchange that can also be seen as a type of conversation.

My intention in painting is to let a joyful, loving and gracious posture to express through me and move out into the painting through the energy of my hands from the core of my being.  I let the energy continue into the paint and through the movement of the brush.  All of this is then contained within the painting.

As I paint I allow for this type of give and flow back to happen so I can sense the level of conservation of energy I hold and the balance of what the canvas is willing to hold.  This becomes a very real conversation.

When I approach something, be it a tree, a person or a painting it is all very much the same thing.  I stand in my own core energy and sometimes move it out a bit in front of me and see what comes back.  This is very similar to what some cetaceans do with their toning and bats as well.

Letting and sensing a back flow of energy returning while giving this process a moment very much enriches and connects to all forms of creation.  It can be easy to forget it is there.  I have to be still enough and aware to receive it.

How does one bring oneself to bear in this world?  Meaning, “to bear” how does one carry oneself and interact with one’s world?  And what happens when one does?  What is it that makes an individual feel an impulse to express – whether it is a thought, an emotion or a creation born of color, image, and words on paper or sound?

Other Places the term “Sacred Hoop” is mentioned

The sacred hoop has been used to describe drum making, shamanism and Native American methodology.   In the book “Black Elk Speaks” he mentions this term.  There is even a magazine that has been published for many years that goes by this name.  The world is a circle, or many, many circles.  All of these circles are made of energy and consciousness and life interacts with like.  Love with Love, gratitude with gratitude, joy to joy.  This is the Hoop.  It is how we connect.   And that is why the hoop is so important.

Recipe for Happiness

Sit inside your own Sacred Hoop of Everything

Place yourself in a state of gratitude by appreciating something with all your might

Let that energy extend out to a Circle/Hoop any diameter small or large around you

And allow it to radiate love, gratitude and appreciation back

Art Mission

I am a Slovakian, Swiss German, Irish and Italian Art Maker.

I like to create specialized environments for things to occur. I view my self as a discoverer.

For over forty years I have be making art that’s sometimes impossible to grasp because I am working with Spirit and Light and different kinds of Frequencies that are sometimes from the Future – and lately from the NOW with all kinds of gorgeous new energy pouring into here.

My Art making answers my questions to prove my theory that

all whom choose to completely heal and regenerate, will.

There is a certain type of feeling  through my work that gets transferred either through

touch or the eyes and brings an awareness of a time line, a sense of time that is nearly

timeless and patient.  Patience in the way of waiting no matter how long it takes to let go of
the past and trust about standing naked, non attached to thoughts or things anymore.  And

in this standing, this stance, there is still a buoyancy that overcomes the emptiness of

letting go.  It is what I call grace.  And it does take trust.
